Hello everyone,
I wanted to report an issue I am facing when trying to use Beeper with Google Messages on my Volla X23 (which runs a degooglified ROM with microG).
What happens
When I try to add Google Messages in Beeper, I get the following error:
Google Messages
Something went wrong and we couldn't add your account.
© failed to submit cookies to cloud bridge login process:
Fl.MAU.GMESSAGES.PAIR_INIT_TIMEOUT (HTTP 400): Phone not responding.
Make sure your phone is connected to the internet and that account pairing is enabled in the Google Messages app.
You may need to keep the app open and/or disable battery optimizations.
Alternatively, try QR pairing
The problem is:
My Volla phone pairs fine with the Google Messages Web interface in Firefox via QR code.
But Beeper does not offer the QR pairing option.
What Beeper Support told me
Beeper support explained that:
Their Google Messages connection requires the Android device (with the Messages app installed) to stay alive and connected.
If the device goes unreachable, the connection breaks.
They don’t offer QR pairing inside Beeper because it’s unreliable for keeping connections alive.
On degoogled devices (like Volla with microG), some of the required Google libraries may be missing, which prevents Beeper from authenticating with Google Messages.
At this time, Beeper may simply not be able to support this setup.
My question
Has anyone here managed to get Beeper + Google Messages working on Volla with microG?
Are there any known workarounds (e.g., different pairing method, modified microG, or alternative SMS integration)?
Or is this currently a limitation we have to accept?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
