Spell checker/suggestions only works in some settings

I have a Volla Plinius with Volla OS, and the keyboard doesn't work as I expect.

First, the spell checker/suggestions only shows up in some cases. For example, if I open Fennec and starts typing, there is no spell check/suggestions - the entire line is simply not there.

If I start writing an SMS message, it's there. If I search in the Mastodon app, it's missing. If I search in Comaps, it's there. If I write in the app AnyList, it's missing.

Is there any rule to when this works and when it doesn't?

Oh, one more thing: I have enabled both Danish, German, English and French, because I write in all those languages. However, the keyboard changes to reflect the input language! Which means that if I want English suggestions and I switch to English, the Danish letters Æ, Ø and Å disappears - this is very undesirable. Can this be changed? Or should I ask these questions in a general Android forum?

I have a Volla Phone Quintus and with the preinstalled AOSP keyboard I encounter the same. In the SMS application it shows the line with suggestions, while in Fennnc it doesn't.
I think this depends on how the input field is declared by the corresponding app. But different keyboard apps can interpret them differently. I'am using Heliboard and this shows word suggestions in Fennec and other apps (there are still some input field where it doesn't).
When using multiple languages (I use DE, FR, EN, EO) Heliboard opens always with the last used language and you can set a language switching button next to the space key, to easily switch languages.
