Desktop Apps on Ubuntu Touch

so I am not familiar with Ubuntu touch, but am I correct in assuming that i will not be able to aptget or compile the majority of desktop Linux programs?
for example fldigi, gnuradio utility, or kvm qemu.

would i be able to install a full arm Linux, and if so, will i lose function of the cellular radio.

Hi drspastic and welcome to this forum :)
I just moved it to the right sub-forum to avoid confusion. Let me answer a few of your questions

Ubuntu Touch is not meant to be used as a desktop enviroment. So you might look for alternative apps in the open store first. See a list of available Apps here: https://open-store.io
Anyways there is a possibility to install X-based Desktop programs on an ubuntu touch device by installing it in a libertine container.
More information given here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Libertine
I would always recommend to try native apps first, as libertine is kinda experimental.

You may be interested in the Droidian Project https://droidian.org/ which allows you to install and use a full ARM64 Linux System on the Volla Phone. Please notice, that droidian is yet in an early development phase and not meant to be daily driven. However, I tried it out for a few weeks and I loved it!
