[Solved] Help! Volla Plinius stuck in bootloop

Hello,

Volla Plinius with Ubuntu Touch is stuck in a dreaded bootloop. Holding power+volume up does not go into recovery mode (as per faq?). Right now would be nice to know how to stop the bootloop if possible.

Regarding why: I think I buggered the apt packages by installing build-essential, gcc, and some other utilities, which updated base glib to maybe some incompatible version for the services needed to boot.

Any help appreciated.

I did find the way to go to recovery, but the device is not reachable over usb in recovery / fastboot mode for some reason. Could it be pogopins are the main usb or something? Currently want to figure out how to do a fix without factory reset (which I assume nukes everything).

Welp, PEBKAC. Fastboot now works, maybe it was the cable.

I guess I solved it by reflashing the firmware with ubports installer. Wipe personal data - off, bootstrap (flash system partitions with fastboot) - on.

However, all user data was deleted, even though I did not check the "wipe userdata" on ubports installer. Bit sad, but nothing major was lost, just setup and some test pictures. I could in no way figure out how to reach userdata on the recovery shell. /dev/block/by-name/userdata had the linux journal, which I found and delved into, but it did not have any of the data from device use.

Since I couldnt figure out how to get a chroot with internet, or how to even fix the offending (for some reason) f2fs drivers (perhaps?), I thought to just try ubports because it shouldnt wipe userdata (I hoped). I couldnt get metadat and nvdata partitions to mount in recovery either.
